The Difference Between UX and UI (And Why They Matter)

Writer: Brie Brie

In web design, User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI) are often confused. While closely related, they serve different purposes in creating a successful website.

What is UX?

UX focuses on how users interact with a website. It includes:

  • Navigation ease

  • Content accessibility

  • User journey and behavior

What is UI?

UI is the visual and interactive elements of a website, including:

  • Layout and spacing

  • Typography and colors

  • Buttons and forms

Why UX and UI Matter Together

A visually appealing UI won’t be effective if the UX is frustrating. Similarly, great UX needs a polished UI for engagement. A successful website balances both for an intuitive and beautiful experience.
